For the millions of youth involved in 4-H, the youth development program administered by the United States Department of Agriculture, learning citizenship, leadership and life skills to meet community needs is an adventure that will serve them for a lifetime.

The capstone of this 4-H experience is attending the National 4-H Conference in Washington, DC. Each year at the request of the Secretary of Agriculture, more than 350 youth come from across the country to take advantage of the ultimate leadership opportunity: directly influencing 4-H at the very highest level. For one week, high-school aged youth work with 4‑H volunteers, extension personnel and officials from the United States Department of Agriculture to develop recommendations that will advance the 4-H movement for future generations of young people.
